6,300 housing units are under construction in the new city east of Hadera.

People will soon start moving to the new city of Harish. A special Planning and Building Commission for Harish, headed by David Magen, today announced that occupancy orders for the first 85 housing units in the city had been signed and the request to connected them to essential infrastructure the electricity grid, water, and communications approved. The Dimri and Megiddo companies built the projects.

Construction and development completion certificates will later be granted, enabling the residents to enter their new housing. 6,300 housing units are under construction in Harish, and the first 500 families will begin living in the city in the coming months.

There will be 2,000 families in Harish by the end of the year, together with 300 families that moved there 20 years ago. Under the planning and building program, 50,000 people will live in Harish within three years.

A buyers group with over 500 members is still waiting for bank financing, and a significant delay in construction of the project is therefore expected, as well as a deviation from the original price presented by the group's organizer to its members when they joined three years ago.

The special Commission has approved over 2,000 building permits for housing units and a business zone in Harish in recent months, including a gas station, hotel, and special site consolidating all the rescue, ambulance, police, and firefighting services for the town.

The Commission has also begun promoting the Harish outline plan designed to expand the city to the northeast in the future. According to the accelerated timetable set by the Ministry of Construction and Housing, submission of the plan to the special Commission is slated for deposit by the end of 2016.

Setting the new (third) outline plan for Harish in motion is designed to continue and expand the residential area in the city, so that the city can reach 100,000 residents in the future, as planned by the Ministry of Construction and Housing.

The special Commission recently approved an landscaping plan for 66 areas with vegetation, parks, and public gardens totaling 600 dunam (150 acres). 10 parks will be built in the coming year in three new neighborhoods designated for occupancy within a year, and 50 more such areas will be opened by 2020.
